If you have been following this blog from the beginning then you will remember the fluctuations that come when you are on a weight loss program, especially when you begin. Since, I fell off the wagon for a couple months, I guess I am going to see some of that.
Yesterday, I did a mile on the bike and 200 sit ups. Despite my efforts, I showed a gain.
Today's official weigh in: 316.8 lbs. That's 33.2 lbs for the year.
I did have pancakes for breakfast and pot roast with rice and veggies for dinner. (and I had seconds on the pot roast. A big weight loss no no.)

After 2 months away from my weight loss program, I still managed to drop a pound. I have not done any kind of exercise what so ever in the last 2 months. I have, however, been eating healthy and drinking lots of water.
Today's official weigh in: 315.4 lbs.
This shows that the eating habits that I have ingrained in my daily routine will let me maintain my current weight without exercise. I can proceeed with my weight loss program with out the fear of gaining it all back, which happens quite often.
Yesterday, I knocked out 100 crunches on the Ab Roller. Nothing spectacular, but a start all the same.

The biggest problem that people have with weight loss programs is staying on them. Well I am know different from anybody else. If you have been following this blog then you know that this is my first post in over 2 months. I got within 5 pounds of my mid-year goal of 300 pounds and then gained 10 pounds.
I just read my previous post about how I was going to double my efforts to get back on track. The truth of the matter is that I haven't done squat in the past 2 months. I moved from Fort Myers to Palm Beach Gardens along with my company. The new building wasn't ready yet, so I was living in a hotel during the week, working in Fort Myers and driving back to Palm Beach Gardens. I did this for about a month.
I used this inconvienience as an excuse to not do my exercising and stay on my weight loss program. The company is now moved 100% and I am in Palm Beach Gardens full time, but I still haven't resumed my weight loss program. You might be wondering why I am telling you this. The reason is so that you can see that it's OK to not meet your goals. The important thing is that you don't use it as a reason to quit.
Starting this evening, when I finish writing this post, I am going to dig my AB Roller out of the closet and continue where I left off with my program. Today I scoped out a nice route for my daily bike ride and will begin in the morning with that.
Just because you have had a set back is not a reason to give up. You should turn it into motivation to try harder. Don't be one of the people that doesn't make it. Maybe I won't lose 100 pounds this year, but I can still lose 75.
Here is the good news. I stepped on the scales the other day and I haven't gained any of the weight back. I will wait for tomorrow mornings official weigh in to post, but I am still in the 315 neighborhood. I attribute this to the good eating habits that I have developed during the first half of the year.
Remember, it's all about changing your life style. You develop good habits now and you will be happy and healthy for the rest of your life.

I've been back from my vacation for 2 days now and have been hitting the weight loss program hard. I have put in 4 miles a day on the bike and 400 sit ups as well. I split the workouts into first thing in the morning and then after dinner. The result:
Official weigh in for today: 316.2 lbs. That's 2.4 lbs in 2 days.
I am going to continue this routine until I get back on track for the year. I am back on the normal eating routine that I have been using all year. (see previous posts)
I'll post again in a couple days.

Not that I am saying that I am a loser, just someone who's late. You have probably guessed that I didn't make my mid year goal. When I left for vacation, I was only 2 lbs away from 300. Now that I am back, I discovered that I gained 6 lbs during the 10 days that I was away.
Today's weigh in: 307.6 lbs.
So now I am 7.6 lbs over what I should have weighed 5 days ago. That makes me about 9 or 10 pounds behind for the year. I can't beat up on myself too bad, considering that I have lost over 40 lbs. this year. The good news is that my 3 year old and my 5 year old are at my Mom's for the next 3 weeks and the wife and I are switching into super duper weight loss mode. (notice I did not use the word diet)
I am starting an accelerated weight loss program today. Notice I did not say tomorrow. Tomorrow is what you tell yourself when you are not really serious. Procrastination will kill your weight loss program faster than anything! Here it is my first Sunday home with no kids, (the 14 year old doesn't really count because he just wants to stay in his room on the computer or go off with his friends), and I am up at 7:00 am.
I am going to finish this blog post and then go ride my bike. I was going to say for 3 miles instead of 2 but we will have to see. I haven't done any exercise in over a week so I will see how I feel. You want to push yourself, but don't over do it. Especially if you are really over weight or if your 40+. I am going to be 47 the end of this month and although that is not what I consider old, I realize I'm not 20 anymore either.
Just make sure you don't use something like age to justify taking it easy or not doing anything at all. Weight loss is just as much mental as it is physical. Don't let the excuses keep you from reaching your goal. True, I feel a little short of my goal, but instead of giving up, I am going to use that as motivation to work even harder.
