Weight Loss

Well I finally got the technical problems worked out with this blog. Of course you wouldn't know that I was having technical problems. You would only know that I haven't made a blog post in…forever!

You didn't really miss much. I had almost lost 50 lbs by the end of June and then totally let my weight loss program go to sh*t. Actually, I didn't gain any weight back until the last 2 months.

I totally lost my mind over the holidays and ate like 3 pigs. Since I wasn't doing any kind of exercise, I ended up putting some of the weight back on. I stepped on the scales 2 days ago and I was at 329.

That means I put on about 25 lbs over the last 3 months when I should have lost 25 lbs which would have put me about 20lbs away from my target weight of 250.

Oh well, back to the drawing board. Really, there is no drawing board. I am just going to continue where I left off in June. This year I only have to lose 75 lbs instead of 100, so it should be easier right?

Right?

If you have been following this blog from the beginning then you will remember the fluctuations that come when you are on a weight loss program, especially when you begin. Since, I fell off the wagon for a couple months, I guess I am going to see some of that.

Yesterday, I did a mile on the bike and 200 sit ups. Despite my efforts, I showed a gain.

Today's official weigh in: 316.8 lbs. That's 33.2 lbs for the year.

I did have pancakes for breakfast and pot roast with rice and veggies for dinner. (and I had seconds on the pot roast. A big weight loss no no.)

The biggest problem that people have with weight loss programs is staying on them. Well I am know different from anybody else. If you have been following this blog then you know that this is my first post in over 2 months. I got within 5 pounds of my mid-year goal of 300 pounds and then gained 10 pounds.

I just read my previous post about how I was going to double my efforts to get back on track. The truth of the matter is that I haven't done squat in the past 2 months. I moved from Fort Myers to Palm Beach Gardens along with my company. The new building wasn't ready yet, so I was living in a hotel during the week, working in Fort Myers and driving back to Palm Beach Gardens. I did this for about a month.

I used this inconvienience as an excuse to not do my exercising and stay on my weight loss program. The company is now moved 100% and I am in Palm Beach Gardens full time, but I still haven't resumed my weight loss program. You might be wondering why I am telling you this. The reason is so that you can see that it's OK to not meet your goals. The important thing is that you don't use it as a reason to quit.

Starting this evening, when I finish writing this post, I am going to dig my AB Roller out of the closet and continue where I left off with my program. Today I scoped out a nice route for my daily bike ride and will begin in the morning with that.

Just because you have had a set back is not a reason to give up. You should turn it into motivation to try harder. Don't be one of the people that doesn't make it. Maybe I won't lose 100 pounds this year, but I can still lose 75.

Here is the good news. I stepped on the scales the other day and I haven't gained any of the weight back. I will wait for tomorrow mornings official weigh in to post, but I am still in the 315 neighborhood. I attribute this to the good eating habits that I have developed during the first half of the year.

Remember, it's all about changing your life style. You develop good habits now and you will be happy and healthy for the rest of your life.

I've been back from my vacation for 2 days now and have been hitting the weight loss program hard. I have put in 4 miles a day on the bike and 400 sit ups as well. I split the workouts into first thing in the morning and then after dinner. The result:

Official weigh in for today: 316.2 lbs. That's 2.4 lbs in 2 days.

I am going to continue this routine until I get back on track for the year. I am back on the normal eating routine that I have been using all year. (see previous posts)

I'll post again in a couple days.

I didn't get to double up on the exercise like I wanted to but I have managed to loose a couple pounds anyway. The rainy season is starting here in south Florida and it rains almost every evening. That has cut into my after dinner bike riding a good bit. I have still been getting up and doing 2 miles first thing.

Today's official weigh in: 304.2 lbs. That's 5.4 lbs for the month and 45.8 lbs for the year.

I have stayed with the same eating routine. 5 to 6 small snacks a day, heavy on the fruit and vegetables. I don't drink anything except water and I drink at least a gallon of it every day. I have 8 days to lose the remaining 4.2 lbs that will put me at 300 lbs, which is my mid year goal.
